SmartSens Launches 50MP, 0.8-Micron Pixel CMOS Image Sensor for Smartphone Cameras

Shanghai, China, March 20, 2025 SmartSens Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, announced SC532HS, a 50-MegaPixel (MP), 1/2-inch, 0.8-Micron Pixel CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) for smartphone cameras. Based on SmartSens’SmartClarity®-SL technology, SC532HS is manufactured in 55nm Stacked BSI process and equipped with patented technologies such as PixGain HDR®, SFCPixel® and AllPix ADAF®. It features multiple performance advantages including high resolution, high dynamic range, all-pixel all-directional autofocus and ultra-low noise. As a fully domestically produced Stacked BSI CMOS image sensor, SC532HS combines performance and cost advantages,making it widely applicable to the main cameras and telephoto cameras of smartphones, promoting the comprehensive popularization of domestic high-performance Stacked BSI technology.

Main features
High dynamic range(HDR)
The SC532HS is equipped with SmartSens’ advanced PixGain HDR® technology, which significantly enhance the dynamic range while effectively suppressing motion artifacts. Under the mode of PixGain HDR®, the dynamic range of the SC532HS can be up to 80.89dB, thus enabling the camera to capture high-quality images with rich details, balanced exposure, and no motion artifacts even in complex lighting conditions. Moreover, SC532HS supports 4K 30fps high dynamic range video recording in PixGain HDR® mode, resulting in more lifelike video contrast. In addition, SC532HS also supports other HDR modes such as Staggered HDR and NDOL HDR, which can be flexibly applied according to the needs of different mobile phone products.
High sensitivity
Benefits from the advanced Stacked BSI process and SmartSens’SFCPixel® technology, SC532HS achieves a higher sensitivity of 2547mV/lux*s. Therefore, SC532HS can help the phone camera capture brighter and clearer images in low-light or dark environments.
Ultra-low noise
Based on SmartSens’SFCPixel® technology and ultra-low noise reading circuit technology, SC532HS has excellent noise control performance. Its Read Noise (RN) is less than 1e-, which is significantly reduced by about 46.5% compared with the competitors with the same specifications. SC532HS's excellent low-noise performance can enhance the night imaging quality of smartphone cameras, making the details clearer and more delicate.

The SC532HS is equipped with SmartSens’AllPix ADAF® and Sparse PDAF technologies, which enable two fast autofocus modes. It can help mobile phone cameras achieve high-speed autofocus with lower power consumption under different lighting conditions. In low-light scenarios, SC532HS can use the AllPix ADAF® mode to achieve high-speed and precise focusing effects through all-pixel all-directional autofocus. In ordinary lighting scenarios, SC532HS can switch to the Sparse PDAF mode, achieving precise focusing and significantly reducing power consumption through sparse pixel phase detection.

On-chip remosaic
SC532HS supports on-chip remosaic, enabling rapid full-size high-resolution image output, and also supports 12.5MP video recording. On-chip remosaic reduces the computing power requirements of the smartphone System on Chip (SoC) for high-resolution image output, making it compatible with more smartphone models and enhancing the clarity of phone shooting.
