SmartSens Technology today announced the SC500AI widescreen advanced image sensor, the latest product in the company’s Advanced Imaging (AI) family.<div class="media-wrap image-wrap"><img src="https://smartsens.oss-cn-beijing.aliyuncs.com/web/img/1605173620730631021.jpg"/></div>The majority of 5MP security camera sensors offer a 4:3 aspect ratio that is not optimized for the widescreen format of modern LCD displays. The SmartSens SC500AI addresses this shortcoming with 1620P 16:9 5MP video output in the same form factor. This next-generation sensor presents a marked improvement over previous designs — narrowing the gap between image output and natural human vision.<div class="media-wrap image-wrap"><img src="https://smartsens.oss-cn-beijing.aliyuncs.com/web/img/1605173652499295109.jpg"/></div>SmartClarity Technology in the SC500AI increases the number of pixels by 20% compared to many 5MP products on the market—leveraging the full resolution of the sensor rather than cropping a 5MP 4:3 image down to 4MP to fit a 16:9 aspect ratio. This effectively reduces dark edges and distortion on both sides of the image due to uneven scaling while achieving a true 16:9 aspect ratio that includes an additional 10% of horizontal viewing area. The current shipments of automotive chips show that the gap between domestic and foreign semiconductor companies remains wide and presents an ongoing challenge for Chinese companies. It is, however, an opportunity for SmartSens.Autonomous driving, or self-driving vehicles, has been gaining traction with the traditional automotive and technology industries. Autonomous driving can be divided into four to five levels: At levels three, four or higher, the self-driving vehicles require additional visual cameras in order to improve the environmental adaptability within the decision perception system for functional safety and data security, at which point the visual function becomes the core of the entire system. In 2D applications, the current ADAS visualization function system can be serviced by six to eight cameras, including binocular, nom ocular, monochrome and color camera systems, which are used to provide front collision warning, pedestrian alert, and automatic parking, etc. The 3D applications, on the other hand, makes the cockpit functionalities more intelligent, enhancing safety, convenience, and comfort for drivers and passengers.Why is the image sensor such an important breakthrough in the development of autonomous driving? “Security” has always been the key for autonomous driving. Whether it is data security or functional security, the end-to-end encrypted transmission of data and security monitoring of the environment cannot be separated from the performance and support of image sensors. SmartSens Technology today announced the launch of its SC200AI sensor, the first in a new Advanced Imaging (AI) series product lineup of high-performance, low-light-capable image sensors with advanced HDR capabilities and reliability in harsh environments. The sensor meets increasing global demand for advanced sensors with better environmental resistance, as the market for security and surveillance products continues to evolve and grow.The SC200AI represents the first sensor in SmartSens’ new AI Series of Advanced Imaging products. SmartSens Announces the First 1080P Sensor in Its Advanced Imaging （AI）Series

SmartSens Technology today announces the official launch of SC210IoT – a 1080P 30fps low power video sensor specifically designed to power Internet of Things (IoT) devices.It is estimated that 127 new IoT devices are connected to the web every second, and an installation of 31 billion IoT devices will be installed worldwide by the end of 2020 (Security Today, January 2020).
